Michael Gallup, a wide receiver who made a significant impact in the NFL, has announced his retirement at the age of 28. The Las Vegas Raiders, who signed Gallup this offseason, placed him on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday.
Gallup's journey in the NFL saw him drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. During his tenure with the Cowboys, Gallup quickly emerged as a key player. His standout season came in 2019 when he amassed 1,107 receiving yards and scored six touchdowns, averaging an impressive 16.8 yards per catch. Over his career with Dallas, Gallup started 67 out of 86 games, securing 266 catches for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns, with an overall average of 14.1 yards per catch.
Despite his considerable success, the Cowboys released Gallup in March, even though he still had three years left on his contract, worth $45.55 million.
